Hi! It’s time to meet another short vowel word family- short e word family. Your little one will love these phonics word families worksheets.
If you haven’t checked the ‘short a word family worksheets’ on my blog yet, please do so by clicking here.
It is a detailed post that will explain how to use these worksheets when practicing word families with your child. These are word sort worksheets and the best way to teach the child the sounds in a word and how to spell a word.
Cut the et word family letter tiles and identify the pictures. Then, let the child try to build the word by segmenting the sounds.
Initially, most children find it difficult to blend three sounds such as ‘j-e-t.’ That is where word families come in. We first teach the child to blend the middle and ending sound ‘e-t’ and then we add the beginning sound to it.
den —-> d e n
Segmenting is as important as blending. Segmenting a word teaches the child how to spell a word.
After completing the word building activity, the child can try writing the words in the blocks.
My kids really enjoy doing these word family worksheets. I have a separate pack for all the short vowels, aeiou sounds. You can get it by clicking here.
