Sounds form words and words form sentences. Sentences have certain punctuation rules. This set of ‘build sentences’ worksheets will help our little learners understand how to form sentences and also the basic rules of punctuation.
There are pictures and next to each picture, there are a few words that are scrambled up.
The child has to unscramble these words to form simple sentences that are logical.
Now comes the basic punctuation rules. I constantly tell my little learners that sentences always begin with a capital letter. In these ‘build sentences’ worksheets, the learners will understand it better since they will know that the first word for the sentence will be the capital one and they will pick it first to form the sentence.
Also, tell our little learners that basic sentences end with a period or full stop. Now, the first and the last word of the sentence is sorted out. They only need to unscramble the remaining 2-3 words to form a logical sentence.
Don’t forget to color the pictures.

Did you notice these cue cards on the cover image? I often use these with the kids because vowels are confusing! When kids get confused with or forget the vowel sounds, they just need to see the cue card. The vowel and the beginning sound of the picture above it will help them recall it.
One sheet will give you 4 cue cards. I use them a lot in my classes. They have become a necessary aid now, It helps the child correct oneself without anyone’s help.
Please print these cue cards on card stock or a heavy sheet so they are sturdy.
